While the summer months typically mark wedding season, we have noticed a rise in the number of couples choosing to say their “I dos” during the autumn months, and we can’t say we’re surprised. Gorgeous, golden lighting, a crispness in the air, not to mention an array of tasty seasonal dishes are just a few of the reasons why we love autumnal weddings. If you’re considering this season for your wedding, we’ve rounded up loads of reasons why it’s easy to fall for an autumn wedding.

Golden lighting

While summer boasts longer daylight hours, ask any photographer and they’ll tell you that capturing someone’s wedding on a gloriously sunny day isn’t actually that easy. Autumn is a completely different story though. The season’s lighting is particularly beautiful, especially those sun sets, which can serve as an amazing backdrop for photos. Many photographers will take the happy couple outside as the sun is setting for some truly memorable photos, which take centre stage in their wedding albums.

Add oodles of romance to your day

Autumn really is all about romance. Open fires, comforting textures and moody colours make it undeniably romantic. If you fancy incorporating a little hygge into your décor choices, think about creating cosy corners, soft draping and tones of gorgeous, soft lighting for a setting unlike any other.

An abundance of beautiful food

We love the fact that autumn’s seasonal dishes are distinctly comforting, which really gives couples the chance to get creative when it comes to deciding on their menu. For foodies, autumn’s harvest is a palette of delectable flavours. Cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, squash and nutmeg are definite highlights, which can easily be incorporated into your dishes by a creative chef. Plus, if you’re a fan of doing things a little differently, why not create a signature wedding day cocktail, which incorporates one of these warming flavours?! It will go down a treat with guests, who won’t forget about their uniqueness in a hurry.

Take cue from nature

Unsurprisingly, we are fans of seeking inspiration from nature when it comes to wedding décor choices. If you’re feeling a little unsure about what finishing touches to incorporate into your wedding day, we highly recommend taking a walk on one of those crisp autumn mornings and soaking up the beauty of the world around you. The season’s ever-changing colour palette offers an array of hues to work with, from burnt orange to bold burgundys, all of which can be incorporated into your flowers, bridesmaid dresses and finishing touches.

Guests tend to be available

Autumn is that time of year when people tend to be available. That time in-between summer holidays and winter sun escapes, means people are generally free and don’t have other commitments, so are therefore more likely to attend. Plus, if you have your eye on some of the country’s finest wedding suppliers, there is more chance that they will be free. But of course, we always recommend booking as soon as possible, as the good ones are always in high demand.

An ideal time to honeymoon

Your airport check-in on social media will definitely have your followers green with envy, particularly as their summer holidays are but a distant memory. There’s the added bonus that flights and accommodation are a little cheaper at this time of year too, so if you have a honeymoon of a lifetime in mind, autumn really is the idea time to do it.
